New Moon and Nidra Ritual
“Yoga Nidra is the yoga of aware sleep. In this lies the secret of self-healing. Yoga Nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is relaxed.” -Satyananda Saraswati
The New moon is a moment to plant seeds for new intentions, projects, needs and well-being. It is an astral opportunity for powerful manifestation that will grow with the next lunar cycle.
Yoga Nidra is a tool to go inward, relax and find peace within.
Now, learn to use both opportunities together to improve your life and state of being.
Make Yoga Nidra a New Moon ritual that becomes a priority on your path. Be kind to yourself, understand that some moons have various energy. Maybe this month you feel more drawn to your practice and next month you will forget, it is ok.
Still, place a reminder out there. The stronger your practice becomes, the more powerful your intentions will be manifesting. This is what we call Sadhana in the Yogic traditions.
The universe has a beautiful way to give us what we need when we ask consciously for it.
Next new moon, unroll your yoga mat. Place an intention before starting your Yoga flow.
It does not have to be complex; it can be very simple.
Decide what needs to be sent out there.
Then, lay on your mat and start your practice.
Youtube as amazing free Yoga Nidra resources if you need support perhaps.
If your local yoga centre offers Yoga Nidra, that might be even better, consult their schedule.
If you can dive into personal practice and be your own guide, that’s amazing!
By the end of your practice, notice if your intention has changed. Yoga has the power to bring clarity to our minds. Sometimes, we confuse our needs with desires. Acknowledge the before and after practice, how do you feel within? What do you truly need, here and now?
What is it that I need versus what is it that I want?
Point out what is essential, release what is desired.
Yoga Nidra is amazing to practice in synchronicity with the new moon because of their soft energy similarity. Feels like they are both flowy, feminine and soft tools.
Remember to connect with what is above us and what is below.
The moon is always a good outward teacher when it’s time to reflect on our current journey. Yoga is a key to reflecting on what is happening inward. Together, New Moon & Nidra create a soft ritual to connect deeper with the self, embrace it!
With love and softness.
